Stabilizes Plankton Growth
AQUA-PONDTM for pond soil rehabilitation & as plankton stabilizer, Aqua-Pond is an organically processed soil revitalizing enhancer that provides the necessary macro and micro nutrients, trace elements, plant growth hormones, humus, humic acid, numerous efficient strains of nitrogen-fixing microorganisms, stabilized organic matter, a special mineral formulation necessary for promoting growth of diatoms, beneficial algae and stabilization of plankton bloom and other elements essential for the rehabilitation of a balanced and healthy soil in aquaculture ponds.
Traditionally, pond preparation requires drying, trenching and scraping off of black soil or sludge that has accumulated after a crop. Further more, this is followed by tilling, soil sampling to determine pH. and the amount of lime needed to adjust it. One critical factor that most people overlook is soil fertility. Conditions in water logged soil in aquaculture pond systems, more often than not, is anaerobic. It contains a high percentage of Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) and decomposing organic detritus due to repeated cycles of fish or prawn fanning. Methane gas is often formed and very toxic. This condition not only gives rise to the proliferation of pathogenic bacteria and viruses which leads to disease outbreaks and mortality but also diminishes tremendously the natural microorganisms that the soil needs for it to stay healthy and productive. One of the most visible signs of the adverse effect in the aforementioned soil condition is unstable plankton bloom. Even with water change, many farms have repeatedly experienced crop failure due to unmanageable plankton bloom.
Another problem arising from unstable plankton bloom will be higher feed-conversion- ratio (FCR). This is a result of the absence of natural food in the water column that fish and prawns prefer. In traditional farms where proper feed management program is not implemented. most operators overfeed, thus further aggravating the situation. Because of nutrient. overload, plankton over bloom occurs and this often leads to plankton collapse causing high transparency and mortality of fish or prawns. In many cases, high transparency also sets in because of low plankton population. Many times this situation cannot be remedied even with water change as natural soil microorganisms is depleted and cannot react and provide nutrients required for plankton bloom. AQUA-PONDTM even with fishes/prawns under culture, can be applied to correct plankton instability.
Apply AQUA-PONDTM at a rate of 200 kilograms/hectare (or 8 bags of 25 kgs/bag). For soil that has been waterlogged for more than 2 culture period (or I year), the following pond preparation procedure is highly recommended:
STORAGE & HANDLING:
Store in cool dry place. Keep out of direct sunlight. Avoid direct inhalation. Wash hands with warm after handling.
